Data and AI: the Mauritian framework

    The Data Protection Act 2017 requires registration with the Data Protection Office. Data sent outside Mauritius must meet section 36, for example safeguards proven to the Commissioner or the explicit consent of the people concerned.

  • European rules may also apply

    The EU AI Act can apply if your tool serves people in the European Union, for example holidaymakers booking from Europe. We check this with you when it is relevant.

  • Your data, your access rules
