Is it allowed by Meta? Yes, here is why

  • Meta's rules since 15 January 2026

    When WhatsApp Business is connected to software, general-purpose AI assistants are no longer allowed on the WhatsApp Business Platform.

  • Agents with a precise mission remain allowed

  • Where your customers already write

    WhatsApp is widely used among internet users in Rwanda, and suppliers and partners use it too. Your agent answers there, on the number they already know.

  • Hotels, guest houses and tour operators

    From Kigali to a guest house in Rusizi near Nyungwe, guests ask about rooms, transfers and park trips. Your agent answers and you confirm each booking.

  • Rwandan and foreign numbers

    Meta prices some messages by the country of the recipient's number. A customer in Kigali and a traveller in Europe may not cost the same, so we estimate first.

  • Promotions only with consent

    Meta requires a customer's agreement before a business messages them first. Under Rwanda's Law No. 058/2021, their number is also personal data, so keep a record of that consent.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with the WhatsApp Business app I already use?
Your agent runs on your WhatsApp Business number through Meta's official connection. Before anything changes, we check with you how your current number and app will be affected.
Can it answer hotel guests before they arrive?
Yes. It answers questions about check-in, transfers from Kigali airport and trips to the national parks. Bookings, changes and special requests are passed to you for confirmation.
Does a message to a foreign guest cost more?
It can. Meta prices by message type and by the country of the number, so messages to a Rwandan and a European guest may cost different amounts. We estimate this with you, then you pay Meta's actual charges.
Are there WhatsApp fees on top?
Some WhatsApp messages are billed by Meta, depending on their type and the country. We explain this before we start, and you pay them at the real price charged by Meta.
Can I take over a conversation myself?
Yes. You can read every conversation and reply yourself whenever you want. The agent also hands over as soon as a request goes beyond its rules.
